New Everyday with Pick ‘n Save

Delicious, Healthy and Easy Winter Salad with Roasted Vegetables and Farro Recipe! #MyPicknSave #shop #cbias

The holidays are almost over and although my kitchen has been full of all sorts of sweets and treats, with the new year just a few days away it’s time to regroup and focus on eating healthy. While eating healthy is important to my husband and I, we also like to eat what we love, which means making sure the meals are also appetizing. Fortunately for us, there’s a newly remodeled Pick ‘n Save just down the street from our home.

Holiday Baking - Chocolate Mint Stick Cookies

Holiday Baking | Chocolate Mint Stick Cookie Recipe. Perfect Holiday Cookies!

Wisconsin is currently covered in snow, and I’m snuggled up in my favorite hoodie and leggings watching it all from the cozy corner of my couch. It’s been such a wonderful holiday season. While I can’t believe Christmas is just 3 days away, this month has been so much fun. I’ve tried to take a step back these last few weeks and really take in the entire Holiday Season. We’ve watched loads of Christmas movies, drank our fare share of Christmas beer, and indulged in far too many holiday treats. But I’ve just loved every second of it.

Christmas in Chicago

Last week I headed to Chicago for a bestie trip with my dear college friend, Ange, and to celebrate my husbands birthday! Ange is one of my favorites. Sadly, we hadn’t seen each other since my wedding because of work, schedules and distance. So, when the opportunity presented itself and, since it was on my 30 Before 30 list, we decided to make Chicago happen!

Truth be told, we spent most of the trip in our hotel room, snuggled up under layers of fluffy covers since it was twenty-below-zero outside. Seriously, that isn’t even a joke.. We gossiped, caught up on life, reminisced on the past and shared future dreams. We sipped Prosecco from hotel cups and munched on pretzel toffee and Garrett’s Popcorn. And when we finally felt brave enough, we threw on eighty thousand layers of clothing (which still wasn’t enough to keep us warm) and head out onto the beautiful streets of Chicago.

Creative Gifts for the Holiday Hostess

Hostess Gifts | Walgreens Healthy & Happy Holiday Gift Guide #HappyAllTheWay #shop #cbias

Tomorrow marks 6 months since we moved to Milwaukee.I almost forgot about it since it’s been so busy these last few weeks. We've been incredibly fortunate, as our schedules have been jammed packed with travel, parties, gift exchanges and get-togethers. I’ve been making all sorts of delightful dishes to share at these parties but I also like to bring along a little something extra, a creative gift, for the host and hostess to show our gratitude for their hospitality.

When I give hostess gifts, I like them to be both fun and functional, something for the home and something special specifically for the hostess. I learned from my mom, that you should always keep a few good items on hand. You don’t have to go overboard on price but just a little treat is always nice.

Holiday Baking - Molasses Cookies

Holiday Baking | Molasses Cookie Recipe

One of my favorite parts of being a blogger is how it connects you with other people. You would think that sitting behind a computer all day would be isolating but I’ve met some of my dearest friends through blogging. When I was first blogging, gift exchanges were all the rage. In fact, I even helped host one, one year. But as blogging and the Internet have changed, you just don’t see these swaps as often. So, when I discovered The Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap, my heart burst with joy.

The same week I found out about the Cookie Swap, I also learned of a bake sale sponsored by one of my favorite local groups #MKEFoodies. Coincidentally, both events contributed to the same wonderful cause, Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. It was a win-win on all fronts. I got to enjoy baked goods from amazing bloggers across the country, support one of my favorite local organizations, and help both groups raise a significant amount of money for an awesome non-profit!

Recipes Around The Web: Holiday Baking - Pretzel Toffee

Holiday Baking | Land O'Lakes Pretzel Toffee Recipe #shop #HolidayButter #cbias

Since moving to Milwaukee, we’ve been lucky enough to make some really amazing friends. Although we’re being budget conscious this year, I still wanted to be able to give them all a little holiday treat. We’ve been doing so much baking in preparation for the holidays. I thought it would be fitting to cook up a little gift from our kitchen.

I usually stick to the same cookie recipes around the holidays but I really wanted to try something new this year. I also really wanted the gift to represent a little bit of our new city. If you know anything about Milwaukee, you know that this city LOVES their pretzels. You can find them everywhere, which is fine with me because pretzels + anything = awesome, in my book. So, in my pursuit for the perfect “Milwaukee-style” holiday recipe, I read through the Land O’Lakes Holiday Brochure and found this Pretzel Toffee recipe. I knew it couldn’t be more fitting!

#SendMoreMail with XO-LP {GIVEAWAY}

#SendMoreMail With XO-LP Holiday Giveaway

With our friends and family scattered all over the globe, we can feel really far away from everyone this time of year. One of my favorite things about the holiday season is that everyone seems to send more mail. Whether it’s Christmas cards, yearly updates, pretty parcels or just a note to say hello. I run to the mailbox each day to see who I've gotten notes from and if there are any packages hidden inside. Sending mail may seem old school but it's my favorite way to stay in touch. Fortunately, amazing and uber talented best friend also thinks so.

You guys remember my friend, Laura? Well, she’s the one in this post and this post. Laura is a ridiculously gifted artist and entrepreneur. She has her own little business, XO-LP, where she sells her hand drawn postcards and artwork.

Holiday Baking - Shortbread Sugar Cookies

Easy Shortbread Sugar Cookie Recipe. Perfect Holiday Cookies!

Welcome to December! The holiday season is in full swing at my house. The last few weeks I’ve been busy whipping up batch after batch of my favorite holiday treats to share with you! While I might be picky about what kinds of sweets I eat, I’m a sucker for a good Christmas cookie. I couldn’t be more excited to introduce you to some of my favorite holiday recipes. We’ve seriously gone through four pounds of butter in the last two weeks. Although, I’m not to sure I should admit that.

I want to kick off this holiday series with a family recipe for a simple and melt-in-your-mouth shortbread sugar cookie. Although this isn’t your traditional sugar cookie recipe, it’s the one I prefer. My mom’s been making this shortbread for over 30 years. I don’t have a clue where the recipe came from, except that it can be found a well-used index card inside her old recipe box.
