As I shared on Monday, living a healthy lifestyle has become more and more important to me. While I’ve always been active, I’ve taken real strides in the last few months to be more conscious of my diet and fitness routine so that I’m always feeling my best. I’m grateful to be surrounded by an incredible group of women who are also seeking a healthy, active and happy lifestyle.
So much of how my day goes is determined by how I spend my morning. These winter mornings have been brutal between the constant torturing temps and inclement weather. Most days it takes all I have to get out of bed, I just want to stay snuggled under the covers. But as I'm making more of an effort to take care of my body, I've pushed myself to start my day with more of an intention. Whether it’s going to barre class, taking 15 minutes to do some yoga moves or feeding my body something refreshing and yummy that makes it feel good.
One of my dear friends and fellow bloggers, Annie, and I were chatting about this a few weeks ago. Annie is a personal trainer, rockstar mom and fitness blogger from Des Moines. She writes over at Strong Brees. Since we're both living in cold climates and looking for ways to stay energized these last few weeks of winter, we decided to team up and share with you our favorite tips for a good morning!
I’ve been downing this smoothie or a variation of it almost every morning for the last few weeks. Whether I dive into it before or after my workout, it’s a great way to start my day and keeps feeling energized and full. I deemed it my “sunshine in a glass” after it helped me get through few really excruciating winter mornings here in Wisconsin. The combination of flavors is creamy and refreshing and makes me feel like I’m taking a tropical vacation somewhere warm and far less arctic.
Now that you know how to make the perfect morning smoothie, head over to Strong Brees to see how to start your day with “The good morning” exercise!
