Winter Makeup Tips

I’m thrilled to be trying something new here today. While food and travel are a big part of my world, I’d also like to begin sharing some of the other elements of my life. I'm excited to start incorporating in a few more lifestyle posts, so today I’m going to share with you a few of my winter makeup tips.

I’ve mentioned it before, but this winter has been a rough one. The cold weather and short days have really taken it out of me. The freezing temps have done a number on my skin and I’ve been feeling really lax about my beauty routine. In an effort to re-energize myself, I decided to play with my usual go-to look and popped over to Walgreens for some new  beauty items.

I’m a simple girl at heart. While I love jazzing things up with a dramatic eye for an evening out, I prefer to keep my day-to-day makeup pretty easy (pun intended). After experimenting with some new items, I came up with this fresh and fun everyday winter look. It's all about using your natural beauty and enhancing it with a few simple products and a classic pop of pink.

Step 1: Start with a clean face.

Step 2: Gently apply a moisturizing eye cream.

My skin is incredibly dry this time of year from the harsh weather. I make sure to keep the area under my eyes nourished because, let’s face it, I’m not getting any younger.

Step 3: Apply a moisturizing and broad spectrum BB Cream all over face to even out skin tone.

Step 4: Apply a moisturizing lip balm.

I despise chapped lips, so I like to keep my pout hydrated and protected from the sun’s rays and windburn.

Step 5: Apply a multiple coats of waterproof mascara.

I know not everyone’s a fan of waterproof mascara but I’ve been stuck in too many snowstorms this winter to use anything else. The stuff stays on all day long. I’m a huge fan of Maybelline’s Define-A-Lash these days, I’m always on the hunt for the perfect mascara, so all recommendations welcome!

Step 6: Apply a bright pink lip stain/gloss/lipstick evenly and blot.

I’ve been using Revlon’s ColorBurst Balm Stain in Lovesick and can’t get enough of it. It doesn't dry out my lip and the color lasts for hours. I’m obsessed with a pink lip these days and feel that it adds just the right amount of color needed to get us through the rest of winter and into spring.

  2. Friggin adorable! I love this! Ok so how do you get your waterproof mascara off then? I love L'Oreal Beauty Tubes because it's not waterproof but stays on until you are drenched with water and then glides off in chunks. It's the only one I've found that stays put but doesn't take too much elbow grease to remove. I hope you plan to post more make- up related posts!

    1. Thanks, Annie! I usually get off the waterproof mascara by using neutrogena's oil free makeup remover and a cotton ball. Or, an old trick my mom taught me, just use baby oil. I have to scrub slightly but it's not bad. I'll try to do another makeup post soon!
